Rapid climate change research in Norway



The Research Council of Norway is currently running three research programmes on Climate Change:
  • KlimaProg - Climate and Climate Change (Science of Climate)
  • KlimaEffekter - Impacts of, and Adaptation to, Climate Change
  • Polar Climate Research - Climate Change and its impacts in the Arctic

As from January 2004, these three programmes will be merged into one integrated programme named NORKLIMA - Climate change and its impacts (and adaptations) in Norway.

With regard to the Joint International Call for proposals on Rapid Climate Change with the UK and The Netherlands, KlimaProg, and some aspects of Polar Climate Research, are the most relevant of RCN's activities. The KlimaProg programme covers a science area much broader than Rapid Climate Change. Some projects, in particular, the NOClim projects and its polar module ProClim, are directly relevant to the science area covered by the present call.
